How do I publish my book?
Publishing your book is easy. The tricky part comes before that.
The majority of people who sit down to write a manuscript never
finish. So, if you've completed one, congratulations! You are more
than halfway there. To publish a book, however, requires a lot of
time and effort before page is put to press. First, your manuscript
must go through the editing phase, which
can take months. Then, layout and design
must be done, incoporating the proper feel for your manuscript.
Finally, you need to get your newly published work out there and
known, so promotion is your last but
continual step.
What is print-on-demand?
Print-on-demand is the future of publishing. In fact, many authors
that publish through traditional publishing houses have switched
over to print-on-demand publishing. The appeal for so many is the
low production costs. There are little to no
fronting costs, such as ordering a press run of thousands of
books, when you're not even sure they will sell. Print-on-demand
is exactly what it says: an interested reader orders the book and
that person's order is printed and mailed.
Are print-on-demand books real books?
Yes. You can place a book published from a print-on-demand press
next to a traditional one and never see a difference. There many
sizes to choose from, as well as binding options. You have the freedom
to choose the type and quality of paper and colour. This allows
for a wide variety of publications, from paperbacks
to special interest glossy photography.
Why should I go through Dragonfly Media Publishing?
We created this company out of a desire to help other writers. Since
we were already in the world of publishing, we knew how to go about
editing, design and layout and promotion. But, we also understood
that the majority of new authors wouldn't have access to this information.
So we wanted to provide these services.
We also wanted to create an online community
of writers that would support each other, critique and encourage
each other's work, and cheer each other on when a work finally gets
published and launched to the world. It's an exciting time that
should be filled with wonder and happiness, not stress and doubt.
